THRIFT BANKS are lobbying for the passage of a bill that will hasten the process of land titling, as this will hike loan portfolios by making it easier for prospective borrowers to use their properties as collateral.
"The bill can boost the banking sector through the prospect of having more borrowers with more secure collateral," the Chamber of Thrift Banks said in a statement.
The chamber noted that about 46% of the 24.2 million land parcels in the country remain untitled. Of this, an estimated of 80% or nine million land parcels are residential.> > > [ full story ]
