Buying or Selling real estate involves a big amount of money and a buyer or seller must be sure that the person he or she is seeking help to sell or buy must be a duly licensed real estate broker. Under the law, a person who would act as a real estate broker must take the examination administered by the DTI and upon passing, he or she will be issued the corresponding real estate broker's license. As such it is illegal to act as a real estate broker (or even as a real estate salesman) if one is not duly licensed. Any person who engages in real estate service practice without a license may be reported to the Department of Trade and Industry, or you may verify with DTI if the person you are dealing with to help you sell or buy your property is duly licensed.
